Located in the heart of the Matanuska valley yet out of the notorious valley wind tunnel, you will find your paradise off Mountain Trails drive. Ideally situated at the base of the mountains and only a short 15 minute drive to downtown Palmer or Wasilla offering you true Alaska living with wilderness out your back door. GPRA - Government Peak Recreation Area

A lighted and professionally groomed ski trail system, designed by former Olympian Bill Spencer, is enjoyed by novices to Olympic competitors.

A 4,000 square foot Chalet, owned by Mat-Su Borough, is available to reserve for special events - weddings, reunions, conferences, and also serves as a meeting facility for community groups. The perfect sledding hill for family fun is adjacent to the Chalet.
In the summer months, the area offers spectacular hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. GPRA trails and amenities continue to evolve and expand.
GPRA adjoins the 300,000 acre Hatcher Pass Management Area. Hatcher Pass consists of mountainous terrain in the Talkeetna Mountain Range that climbs from the chalet at 1000 ft to summits higher than 6,000 ft.
